What is Yoga?

The word yoga, as commonly understood in the West, refers to the practice of asanas or postures. This asana practice known as Hatha Yoga, is the basis from which other schools of yoga developed. More on Hatha Yoga is described in the section below.

Yoga means different things to different people. Perhaps, you are overweight and practice yoga as a form of exercise to have a beautiful physique, or you have an ailment, and look to yoga practice for healing, or you suffer from stress and anxiety, and yoga is your tool to induce mental calmness and peace of mind. You may have unsatisfactory relationships at home and work and look to yoga to improve the quality and depth of your relationships. Or, you may look to yoga to help you find the meaning of your existence. Yoga can help in all these areas as yoga benefits the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual components in us.

However, the ultimate goal of yoga is to prepare the body and mind for experiencing the higher states of awareness and consciousness, to open our eyes to new possibilities and new ways of thinking and living. Good health, wealth, peace of mind, contentment and clarity of mind are all the side effects of the regular practice of yoga. It help man find maximal happiness and fulfillment in life, no matter what their religious or belief system may be. The emphasis will be on your personal effort and practice as that will develop your sensitivity and awareness to both your internal and external surroundings.

Yoga is an ancient science, a most valuable inheritance, and essential in today’s society. It is a science to prepare and train the body and mind to experience the awakening of the inner potential bioenergy - the Kundalini Shakti. This Kundalini energy when awakened, will activate the non-mechanical parts of the brain and the deeper strands of DNA, allowing one to experience extraordinary energy, clarity, calmness, creativity, and ultimately, the experience of Completion, Enlightenment, Samadhi, or Nithyananda, eternal bliss. In the process, this energy awakens our dormant powers which will support and guide us to manifest our reality, living creative and fulfilling lives.

The word yoga is also commonly defined as “union”, a union with the divine. It has also been defined as “uniting”. It is the uniting of the Shiva the conscioiusness at the sahasrara, with Shakti, the kundalini energy which ascends up the sushumna to the sahasrara. When this ultimate union occurs, yoga happens.

Pranayama - Patanjali Yoga Sutras 101

Pranayama (rough translation: Life Breath)

Stopping your mind to fulfill the breath; if your mind interferes it is always unfulfilled. The outer world always follows the inner world, the fulfillment is always experienced first in the inner world, then it actually expresses itself in the outer world, outer world situations will automatically fall in place and the fulfillment happens.

Unfortunately ignorant mind starts thinking that if you create fulfillment in the outer world then you’ll be fulfilled in the inner world, it is not true, it doesn’t work like that.

How to fulfill? Breathing! Just fulfilling the breath will transform your whole inner space, an instant and permanent cure for depression or any mental disorders at any level for everyone no matter how old you are.

Your body is like a desert filled with sand any air going through your body; see in the desert if the wind comes it will lift the sand and make a dusty wind, so the breathing by its nature awakens many thoughts in your mind and you become restless, unfulfilled.

How to make sure the air doesn’t lift the sand? When the sand and the air mix together both are corrupted bio-memory (sand) life breathe (air/wind).

So you have three options:

- Turn the sand into stone (completing with your thoughts makes them die once and for all, the air can’t wake it up because the air can’t lift stones (achieved by un-clutching and integrating yourself)).

- Or become one with the ocean (achieved by surrendering to god), naturally if you become ocean the air won’t lift the sand.

- Finally allowing a river to flow over you ( grace, compassion of the master), this doesn’t require your effort to unclutch nor your effort to surrender, just by being in the breathing space of the master, your breathing changes and stops creating thoughts in your body and bio-memory. Please understand the bio-memory is intelligent and fortunately pure life breath is contagious: if you like someone’s body language, you’ll just pick it up, similarly by being with the master you just pick up his breathing, it gets mirrored in you.

These three techniques allow the wind (breath) to remain pure.

Techniques:
Whenever you see thoughts being brought up by the breathing, stop the breathing using your will power, then continue breathing until the next thought (don’t worry you won’t die by stopping the breath). This is the technique for instant enlightenment.

Or if you can't stop the breathing, at least elongate it! Whether it is inhaling, exhaling, holding, whenever you notice that a thought is created - elongate the breathing. This is the technique for gradual enlightenment. This will work for everyone. But it will take time.

Destruction vs Cessation

Remember we don’t need to destroy mind, we only need the cessation of mind, this is totally different.

Mind vibrates to a certain frequency, all we want is the mind the shift and vibrates to a different frequency. Cessation of vibrating in the current frequency is what we want.

Pranayama is the technique to do that. Only the thoughts “ I am breathing, It is coming in , It is coming out” are allowed everything else has to be stopped, stop or elongate the breath whenever other thoughts occur. This is what I call surrendering to Prana and this will automatically bring you to a state of Samadhi.

Yoga and anti-aging

Anyone on earth would love to find the secret of anti- aging and eternal youth! The yogis of ancient India knew and practiced the secrets of anti-aging, but never had they been revealed to the world.

Today, science and spirituality are coming together to discover the keys to anti-aging words: mitochondria and kundalini. What are mitochondria? Mitochondria are an essential common component of every living cell. Their primary duty is to act as the battery or the energy center of the cell. Our bodies are made up of 50 trillion cells! Fifty trillion cells work in complete union for one single purpose: keeping us alive. Every cell is an independently intelligent organism by itself, producing its own energy. For instance, one molecule of glucose can be converted to 2 ATPs (energy molecule). In the mitochondria, the same glucose will produce 32 ATP’s, which is a 1700% increase in energy production. This is what keeps us fresh and active. However, the DNA of the mitochondria is highly prone to damage, and does not have an efficient repair mechanism. A damaged mitochondria will produce less energy and more toxic free radicals, which lead to cell damage and aging: unwanted wrinkles, memory loss, change in blood pressure, rheumatism, respiratory deficiency, chronic fatigue…

How to slow down, prevent, or even reverse this process is a million-dollar question and a billion dollar industry! Yoga is the age-old physical and spiritual science of experiencing and sustaining the eternal youth and reversing the aging process. All yoga traditions, like Hatha Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Raja Yoga boil down to one process: awakening the inner potential energy of the human body, called Kundalini Shakti. This energy is pure intelligence. It knows where and what to heal in your body and mind, it knows which painful memories to release, and above all how to express itself in the most creative way for your own inner fulfillment. This energy is the fulfillment what we have been looking for all our lives in the name of money, relationships, entertainment, acquisitions and so on. When Kundalini awakens, it boosts the mitochondria energy production thousandold! Energetic mitochondria means less cell damage, health recovery, strong immune system, anti- aging and more.

How to awaken the kundalini? You can follow any path of yoga and achieve the ultimate experience. However, without proper guidance, it can take years, or even lifetimes to achieve this. But why waste time and effort? When enlightened masters happen on planet earth, they bring with them the energy and the technology to help us taste the state in which they live. They can ignite the flame of enlightenment in you in the twinkling of an eye!

Rare phenomena happen in the presence of an enlightened being, but it needs thorough study and interpretation. As millions are discovering around the world, with the spontaneous kundalini experience in Nithyananda’s presence, lifelong diseases are healed and people start to show direct signs of anti- aging. The simultaneous practice of yoga helps the body to sustain and radiate this powerful creative energy in your daily life. Supported by the University of Ohio, the yogic phenomenon of kundalini awakening is now being meticulously studied by top scientists with the most modern equipment.

Paramahamsa Nithyananda is opening the doors of Eastern mysticism to the world’s scientific community, demonstrating to the world a field where science meets mysticism, spirituality meets religion and the impossible becomes reality.

Yoga - a continuous happening inside you!

MANY translate Yoga as ‘union’. Please understand, Yoga is not ‘union’. It is ‘uniting’. Yoga is not a noun. Yoga is a verb. Yoga is not an end result. Yoga is a process. As Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, Yoga is being what you are without expectations and without attachments. Yoga is not doing but being. There is nothing to achieve by practicing Yoga! Shocked? Many people have told you that Yoga will cure you of asthma, it will cure you of chronic pain, it will cure you of high blood pressure and so on. Perhaps it does; but not because of what you practice, but because you believe it does. That is why your intention behind your actions is so important in yoga. Yoga unites the mind-body-spirit system. Actually, what unites them is not just the exercises that you perform, but the intention with which you perform them. When you perform an action with a conscious intention, you create a physical memory which gets embedded in your muscles. So it is essential to start any Yoga practice with a clear intention of what you want from it - health, strength, enlightenment, anything. Before you perform the asanas (physical postures), with full awareness of your intention, visualize the posture you plan to adopt. Go through in your mind every single step of that asana. Then practice that asana. Just by sitting comfortably in any position with your spine erect to allow energy flow, you can derive the result of any asana through intention and visualization. However difficult it is to believe, this is the truth!

Life Bliss Meditation (Nithya Dhyaan)

Life Bliss Meditation (Nithya Dhyaan)
By Paramahamsa Nithyananda
11th May, 2014

In Nithya Dhyan all the best methodologies are used to awaken the non-mechanical parts of the brain which put you into a state of restful awareness or being sure about you. When you are permanently sure about you this is perpetual completion or living Advaitha.

"Living Advaitha is possible by living in perpetual completion."

The Technique:
Life Bliss Meditation is the meditation process which creates perpetual Completion in your system. I will give you a few minutes; please settle down and adjust yourself, make yourself comfortable. Then I will lead you step by step.

STEP 1: "CHAOTIC BREATHING" (7 min.)
Means, awakening and raising the prana, life energy level in your body to its peak possibility. It is a most dynamic aspect. You can put your hand on the hip and start breathing as deeply as possible and as powerfully as possible. It is like hyperventilating; that's all; nothing else; hyperventilating you. Use your whole body to breathe.

Use your whole body and breathe as deeply as possible and as powerfully as possible, but as comfortably as possible. Let your whole body become alive! Let the hyperventilation happen in you. Please be sincere as much as you can. Do it as long as you are comfortable. If you have high blood-pressure, do it mildly, comfortably. Others do it sincerely, authentically.

STEP 2: "INTENSE HUMMING" (7 minutes)
Continue in vajrasana or sit comfortably. Hum as intensely as possible. Let your whole awareness be on the humming sound. It is almost like if you put your mouth into an empty vessel and create a vibration how it will be, same way. Hum as intensely as possible. Let your whole body vibrate with that humming sound. Hum as intensely as possible. Do it as sincerely as possible, as loudly as possibly, as deeply as possible.

STEP 3: CHAKRA AWARENESS (1 min per chakra, total 7 min)
1. Muladhara Chakra (1 min)

Bring awareness to the root center at the base of the spine. Visualize yourself as a powerful light in the root of the spine.

2. Swadishtana Chakra (1 min)

Bring awareness to the area few inches below the belly botton. Visualize yourself as a powerful light in the spleen area.

3. Manipura Chakra (1 min)

Bring awareness to the navel center, visualize yourself as a powerful light in the region.

4. Anahata Chakra (1 min)

Bring awareness to the heart center. Visualize yourself as a powerful light in the center of the heart.

5. Vishuddhi Chakra (1 min)

Now bring your awareness to the Throat Centre

6. Ajna Chakra (1 min)

Now bring your awareness to the Third Eye between both the eyes. See yourself as a powerful light on the Third Eye.

7. Sahasrara Chakra (1 min)

Bring your awareness to the Crown Centre, the top of your head. See yourself as a light on the Crown Centre.

STEP 4: UNCLUTCHING
Now just relax. Sit in the space of "UNCLUTCHED". Decide to yourself you will sit in the space of perpetual Completion. Any in-completion that comes up, complete and drop them. Be in the space of perpetual Completion. Any doubt, fear, powerlessness comes up in you, unclutch.

STEP 5: GRATITUDE
Allow the experience of complete completion happen.

Experience the Complete Completion with yourself and others! Cultivate the space of perpetual Completion!

Let you all be the space of perpetual possibility! Let you all be the space of perpetual living enlightenment! Let you all be the space of perpetual living Advaitha!

Advaithic Activism

“Advaithic Activism! Please understand, let me define “Activism”. Whenever you drop your impossibility and radiate possibility, you are “active”. Whenever you drop impossibility and be active, whenever you radiate possibility, you are “active”. Please understand, whenever you forget the concept of impossibility, radiate possibility, you become “active” in that.”
